Dr. Sorensen grew up in Clear Lake, graduating from Clear Lake High School. He attended the University of Iowa for both undergraduate (BS, Microbiology) and dental (Doctor of Dental Surgery) studies. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Sorensen was awarded the Delta Dental of Iowa Loan Repayment award, a highly competitive award given to dentists that provide dental care to underserved populations and practice in the State of Iowa.
Dr. Sorensen is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and is the current President-elect for the North Central District of the Iowa Dental Association. Dr. Sorensen is an active member of the Seattle Study Club and its local affiliate, North Iowa Dental Seminars. He also attended Dr. Ken Hebel’s, “Hands on Training”, an intense mini-residency focusing on the comprehensive treatment planning, prosthetic, and surgical applications of dental implants. Dr. Sorensen holds proficiency in Invisalign Orthodontics, and has been named a “Preferred Provider” to provide Invisalign to his patients.
Dr. Sorensen is involved with the North Iowa Free Dental Clinic, which provides dental care to underserved people in North Iowa. He is a volunteer dentist and also as the Vice Chairman on board of directors for the Free Dental Clinic.
Dr. Sorensen and his wife, Nichole, have three children, Jude, Thea, and Isla. They enjoy spending time with family and friends and walking around Clear Lake with their dog, Annie. They are avid Iowa Hawkeye, Minnesota Twins, and Clear Lake Lions fans. Both have been active in their local church. Dr. Sorensen also currently serves on the Clear Lake Library Foundation Board and runs the Clear Lake High School Baseball offseason hitting program.

Dr. Carney grew up in New Hampton, Iowa. Upon high school graduation, he attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a degree in general science / chemistry. He then went on to attend the University of Iowa Dental College and graduated in 1977. After graduating from the Dental College, Dr. Carney served his country in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Scott A.F. Base, which is the Military Air Lift Command headquarters base and the regional Medical Center. Dr. Carney was assigned to the restorative dentistry department and trained under a Board Certified Specialist in all fields of dentistry.
Dr. Carney established his Clear Lake practice in 1981 specializing in family and cosmetic dentistry. He is passionate about creating beautiful and healthy smiles for his patients. Over the years, he has traveled the country and spent many hours in seminars, study clubs, and other continuing education classes to stay current with all the newest techniques and technology. Currently, Dr. Carney is a member of The North Iowa Study Club and its affiliate, the Seattle Study Club. He has presented complex rehabilitation cases locally and attended the Seattle Study Club Symposium on a national level.
Dr. Carney’s wife, Kathy, is a Registered Nurse who specializes in Diabetes Education at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa. They have three grown children, Megan and her husband, Brian and daughters Stella, Nathan and his wife Andrea and sons Hudson and Finn, and Chris and his wife Nikki and son Colton.
Dr. Carney is a member of the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Noon Lions, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Outside of the office and his family, Dr. Carney enjoys hunting, golfing, boating, jogging, and lifting weights.
